How the Process Works

There are many reasons why people choose Celebrants to create and perform their ceremonies, and each Celebrant brings their own specific skills and background to the table.

But the biggest differentiating factor is the in-depth process we follow, the thoughtfulness and care that go into crafting the perfect ceremony for you and your partner.

So if you're wondering exactly how the process works, read on!

Step 1. Let’s chat!

If you’re interested in learning more, the first step is to set up a phone consultation, where we’ll chat about your wedding date, answer any initial brief questions you may have, and agree on a time and place to meet in person.

Step 2. Let’s meet!

The next step is a no-cost, no-obligation, face-to-face meeting with you and your partner, where we’ll get to know each other a bit more. We’ll talk about what you want for your ceremony in terms of mood, style, and tone, and you can share specific readings, songs, or traditions you'd like to include, if you already have a few in mind. We’ll even brainstorm some ideas and get those creative juices flowing.

Step 3. Let’s commit!

Following our meeting, I’ll send you a draft outline structure of your ceremony with some of the ideas we talked about, along with a custom quote and a contract. If you’d like to work with me, simply sign the contract and forward it to me with a 50% deposit to lock me in as your wedding Celebrant!

Step 4. Let’s dig in!

The next step is homework! I’ll send a detailed questionnaire to you and your partner to complete separately – although some couples enjoy sharing their responses with each other once they’ve finished. Your responses to these questionnaires will help provide the foundation for your ceremony – your insights, memories, and observations about each other and your relationship will be the raw material I’ll use to lovingly craft a highly personalized ceremony, complete with meaningful songs, readings, rituals, and more, making your wedding truly one-of-a-kind.

Step 5. Let’s make it perfect!

I’ll send you a first draft about two months prior to your wedding date. Over the following four weeks, you’ll provide your feedback and edits, and we’ll work back-and-forth until the ceremony is perfect. You have unlimited edits – I don’t lock you into a certain number of changes or drafts. I want your ceremony to be perfect for you, and we won’t stop until it is! My goal is to have the final draft completed by three weeks prior to your wedding date.
